Arsenal fans thrilled with Lacazette news

[ad_pod ]

Alexandre Lacazette is eligible to play in the second leg of Arsenal’s last-16 Europa League tie against Rennes on Thursday, per Sky Sports.

UEFA have reduced the three-match ban he was handed for his red card against BATE Borisov in February to just two games.

Lacazette missed the second leg against BATE and the first leg against Rennes, which Arsenal lost 3-1 in France.

The Gunners need to record a 2-0 win, at least, to guarantee qualification for the quarter-finals of the competition.

Lacazette has been in productive form for Unai Emery’s side this season, scoring a total of 14 goals in 37 games in all competitions, while also providing 11 assists, so his availability is a massive boost for the Gunners.

He has played just four games in Europe, however, though he scored in the 1-0 win over Qarabag in December.

Nevertheless, Gunners supporters are delighted with the news that the striker will be available for selection on Thursday as Arsenal attempt to mount a stirring comeback at the Emirates Stadium.

Tottenham fans crucify Rose showing vs Burnley

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Tottenham fans have been reacting to their latest setback at Burnley, and they’re not too happy with left-back Danny Rose.

Tottenham missed a golden opportunity to gain some ground on the Premier League leaders on Saturday, falling to a 2-1 defeat at Turf Moor.

Chris Wood opened the scoring in the second half with a lovely flicked header that came down off the crossbar, but Harry Kane equalised on his return to the side with a smart low finish from a tight angle.

Ashley Barnes then decided the match, tapping in from close range courtesy of a rather lucky cross-shot from Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

The Lilywhites could have closed the gap to just two points before Liverpool’s visit to Old Trafford, but a seventh league loss of the season leaves Mauricio Pochettino’s side with a mountain to climb if they are to truly test the top two.

Few of the players covered themselves in glory, but the full-backs were particularly poor.

Serge Aurier looked lost playing on the right flank, while Rose completed just 75 per cent of his overall passes, the second-lowest of any Spurs outfield starter (Juan Foyth completed just 68 per cent).

The English international did set up Kane’s goal with a smartly taken quick throw, but the Twitter reactions down below do not make pretty reading for the 28 year-old…

West Ham supporters express pride, concern at Declan Rice video

[ad_pod ]

West Ham United fans have expressed both pride and concern after the England Twitter account shared a video of Declan Rice joining up with the squad.

Manager Gareth Southgate called up the defensive midfielder last week after he announced his intention to represent the Three Lions instead of the Republic of Ireland.

Rice could subsequently make his international debut in the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro.

A number of Irons fans have urged Rice to do them proud and to enjoy the experience, as he becomes the first player to be called up while playing for the club since Joe Hart in 2017.

However, a selection of supporters, while wishing Rice well, has expressed their concern that he may well pick up an injury.

The 20-year-old has been a key member of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad this season, playing 28 times in the Premier League as the club attempts to earn qualification to the Europa League.

The Chalkboard: Everton need more from Andre Gomes

[ad_pod ]

Everton will travel to Cardiff City on Tuesday night looking for their first Premier League win since beating Huddersfield Town at the end last month.

And the Toffees need a big performance from Andre Gomes if they are to collect a hugely important three points from their trip to Wales.

The Chalkboard

Everton won the race to sign Gomes on loan from Barcelona last summer.

The midfielder missed the start of the season through injury, but has been an ever-present since the latter stages of October.

The 29-time Portugal international was very impressive when he first stepped into the team, but his performances have dropped over the last few weeks.

And Everton need much more from the 25-year-old over the next few months if they are to enjoy a successful end to the campaign.

Starting with the trip to Cardiff, the Toffees need Gomes to be brave and really take control of the battle in the middle of the park.

How has Gomes performed this season?

Nineteen Premier League appearances have brought one goal and one assist.

Those numbers are not exactly terrific, but his use of the ball was excellent between his debut against Crystal Palace and the early stages of December.

Gomes was on the scoresheet in the 3-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month, but struggled against Watford last time out.

Pl>ymaker FC’s Matchday with Max caught up with Jamaica’s women’s team. See what happened when he met the history makers in the video below…

Indeed, according to WhoScored, Gomes only made one tackle and did not win a single header before being replaced by Theo Walcott in the second period.

The fact that Cardiff were thumped by Watford on Friday night makes it an even tougher task for an Everton team seriously out of form.

Gomes is a wonderful talent, but the Toffees need so much more from the Portuguese, starting with Tuesday’s clash in Wales.

Tottenham fans don’t expect Bale return

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans have rejected the idea of signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer.

The Wales international became a star at White Hart Lane between 2007 and 2013, earning himself a then world-record move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, things have turned sour in Spain for Bale, despite the former Southampton starlet winning four Champions League trophies as well as La Liga and three UEFA Super Cups.

The forward has been booed by the Santiago Bernabeu crowd on several occasions, leading to his agent calling the Real fans “nothing short of a disgrace”, per Sky Sports News.

There have subsequently been a number of perhaps optimistic suggestions from fans about a return to Spurs this summer, with The Mirror reporting earlier this month that he could be used as bait for Real to sign Christian Eriksen.

However, most supporters appear to be of a more sensible persuasion and have poo-pooed the idea, with many insisting that Spurs – who have not signed a player in the last two transfer windows – would never countenance the idea of signing such a global star.

West Ham United need to show ambition by retaining Declan Rice next season

Clearly, Declan Rice is quickly turning out to be West Ham United’s most valuable prospect, emerging as one of the most promising English players in years. Now, it’s time for the Hammers to prove they aren’t just a stepping stone for him.

With an England national team call-up surely looming large and big sharks surrounding him, Rice is slowly elevating to the big leagues of superstardom. With that in mind, the Irons need to protect him at all costs.

The 20-year-old’s bright performances for Manuel Pellegrini’s men this season has turned quite a few eyes upon him. The Premier League giants would reportedly love to have him, but David Sullivan needs to resist the temptation of his big selling fee. Manuel Pellegrini is slowly turning the Hammers into a quality side once again and has the pedigree to make them compete with the best next season.

Rice will be key to West Ham’s success, as his diligent work in midfield’s been key to winning them many games this season. Most recently against Newcastle United, where he scored a brilliant header and nonchalantly controlled the game, proved how vital he is to Pellegrini’s system.

In fact, it’s already got to the point that letting him go would be disastrous.

Sullivan and David Gold should shell out more finances for Pellegrini to fix the holes in West Ham’s system right now. If Rice sees ambition from his side, why would he leave? Those behind the scenes have to give him a reason to stay, he’s that good.

With the exciting attacking talents and a sensation like Rice running the show, the Hammers could even fight for a European spot. However, if West Ham gives in to the temptation of incurring big finances upon selling Rice, they’d undo all the good work Pellegrini’s done so far.

Hammers fans, do you think West Ham would benefit building around Rice? Join the discussion by commenting below.

Young talent: Liverpool fans discuss Kamil Grabara’s future

[ad_pod ]

Kamil Grabara has been with Liverpool since the summer of 2016.

The 20-year-old has regularly trained with the Premier League club’s first team and was on the bench against Chelsea in the EFL Cup earlier this season.

The goalkeeper is currently on loan at AGF, however, and will spend the remainder of the season with the Danish club before heading back to Liverpool.

Grabara was in action for Poland’s Under-21 side against England Under-21s on Thursday night.

The youngster made a string of fine stops for his team in the 1-1 draw, which led to a number of Liverpool fans commenting on his future.

Alisson’s presence at Anfield will make it difficult for Grabara to see any regular football for Jurgen Klopp’s side at the moment, but he is certainly a talent.

And it will be very interesting to see what happens with the stopper this summer.

A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Liverpool fans can be seen below:
