Bangladesh will play a T20I tri-series in New Zealand, likely in September-October, as part of their build-up to this year’s T20 World Cup, BCB’s cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus has confirmed, adding that Pakistan are likely to be the third team, and the series is going to be held in Christchurch.Before reaching New Zealand, Bangladesh will travel to Australia for a weeklong camp in Adelaide, where they will play T20 practice matches against local sides. This will be in September. The dates for the tri-series haven’t been announced yet, but the likeliest window is between late September and early October. Things have been going well for Enzo Maresca since he became Chelsea manager in the summer. They have been one of the best sides in front of goal in the Premier League, as the stats suggest on Sofascore.
The Blues have found the back of the net 38 times, the third most in the league, bettered only by Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. They have also created the second-highest number of big chances, again bettered only by the Reds, who have created 72 to Chelsea’s 64.
There is certainly plenty of firepower up front for the Blues, and they have been linked with another reinforcement ahead of the January transfer window.
Chelsea target Ligue 1 striker
The player in question here is Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani. The 26-year-old has struggled to break into the PSG side under Luis Enrique this season and could depart the French capital in the winter.
According to a report from TEAMTalk, the Blues are believed to be ‘very keen due to the fact he can play anywhere across the front three’. They have reportedly ‘made contact to find out the conditions of a potential deal’ this January.
However, they won’t be alone in their quest to sign the Frenchman within the next month or so. Manchester United are thought to be ‘one of the sides keen on him’, with North Londoners Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal also interested in doing a deal this winter.
Why Kolo Muani would be a good signing
It has been a tough season for the France international so far. He has played 14 times in all competitions, featuring for a mere 453 minutes, the equivalent of five full 90 minutes. Even when he has played, he has only managed to score twice in total.

However, there is no denying his class, given he scored 15 goals and grabbed 14 assists in 32 Bundesliga games for Eintracht Frankfurt during his final campaign at the club. It was that form that earned him a £76.4m move to the French capital in the summer of 2023.
A full France international, Kolo Muani was part of the 2022 World Cup squad which lost to Argentina. Rather infamously, he missed a last-gasp one-on-one in the final. However, he did score in the semi-final, a poacher’s finish against Morocco after being on the pitch for just 44 seconds.
There have certainly been plenty of high-profile footballing people who have been full of praise for the 26-year-old. Perhaps the best of the bunch is German legend Lothar Matthaus.
He once described him as a “future superstar”, explaining that he is “ice-cold in front of goal” – high praise from a legend of the game.
Nicolas Jackson scores for Chelsea
There are certainly comparisons that can be drawn between Chelsea’s first-choice striker Nicolas Jackson, and their reported target Kolo Muani.
The Senegal international has been on fire this season, with nine goals and three assists in 17 games in the Premier League this term. That includes two goals and an assist in a 3-0 away win to London rivals West Ham United.
There can certainly be statistical comparisons drawn between Jackson and Kolo Muani, with the deemed to be similar players among those in Europe’s top five leagues, according to FBref.
For example, the PSG man averages 0.5 goals per game and has 1.51 shots on target per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. Comparatively, the Chelsea number 15 averages 0.61 goals each game and 1.63 shots on target.

Having someone like Kolo Muani in the Chelsea squad to offer serious competition to Jackson could be a smart move for Maresca. The 26-year-old, who earns £202k-per-week as per Capology, has not been at his best this season, but on the other hand, has not really played either.

The January transfer window officially opened for business last week and Celtic could dip into the market to bolster their squad before next month’s deadline.
Despite the window only having been open for six days so far, plenty of players have already been linked with moves to Parkhead, and out of the club.
Out of favour central midfielder Odin Thiago Holm is reportedly closing in on a move to MLS side LAFC, whilst Dinamo Zagreb are interested in signing Greg Taylor on a permanent deal, as his current contract at the club is due to expire at the end of the season.
In terms of incoming deals, Celtic are reportedly working on a transfer to bring Scotland international Kieran Tierney back to Glasgow from Arsenal, whilst they are also interested in Sarpsborg winger Sondre Orjasaeter.
Chelsea central midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who worked with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City, has also been linked with a move to Scotland.
One position that may be of interest to the Hoops in this window, however, is centre-forward because Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah have both struggled at times this season.
Celtic's striker woes
Neither of the club’s two senior striker options have really put down a marker and shown that they are the reliable, lethal, number nine to be the star man for Celtic.
Kyogo has started more Scottish Premiership matches (13) than Idah (seven) but his return in front of goal has been far from impressive this season, despite two goals against St Johnstone recently.
Idah has scored five goals and missed eight ‘big chances’ in 17 appearances in the division so far this term, and has only managed one goal and zero assists in his last 11 outings for the club in all competitions.
Kyogo has been given more opportunities to shine, with his 13 league starts, but the Ireland international has not done enough – particularly in the last 11 matches – to show that he deserves more game time.
Unfortunately, however, the Japanese forward has failed to deliver consistent quality at the top end of the pitch in the Premiership with his performances.

As you can see in the table above, Kyogo has been incredibly wasteful with the high-quality chances that have been created for him, and has failed to create a single ‘big chance’ for his teammates.
A return of eight goals and 15 ‘big chances’ missed shows that he has not made the most of the creativity of his teammates, and that Celtic could, potentially, benefit from bringing in another forward who can offer more quality than Kyogo and Idah in the final third.
With this in mind, Rodgers could find a dream upgrade on the Japan international by revisiting his interest in one of the club’s summer transfer targets.
Celtic's interest in Polish star
In the summer transfer window, Celtic were pursuing a deal to sign LAFC attacking midfielder Mateusz Bogusz to come in and bolster the manager’s options at the top end of the pitch.
The Scottish giants were reportedly in talks to strike a deal for the Polish star, who was valued at £8m by the MLS outfit, and made a bid in an attempt to secure his signature.
Unfortunately, however, that bid was not enough to get a deal over the line and the window passed by without the Hoops being able to reach an agreement with LAFC.

After the window, Bogusz admitted that he “knew” about Celtic’s interest but he was not prepared to comment further on it, as he was committed to seeing out the 2024 MLS campaign with LAFC.
At the time of that interview, in September, the Glasgow Times added that the Premiership champions could revisit their interest in the former Leeds United gem in January, as it is currently the off-season for MLS teams.
With this in mind, the Hoops should go back in for the £8m-rated forward because he has the potential to arrive at Parkhead as an upgrade on what they currently have at their disposal at the top end of the pitch.
Why Celtic should sign Mateusz Bogusz
The Scottish giants should swoop to bring the talented attacker to Paradise for a multitude of reasons, and the first of those reasons is his age.
At the age of 23, Celtic would be investing in a player who could either play for the club for the next ten years and provide consistent quality on the pitch to contribute to trophies or perform well for a season or two before being sold for a huge profit after they develop during their time in Glasgow.
Whereas, Kyogo turns 30 this month and there may not be much more development, or potential for his value to increase, for him to go through before the end of his Hoops career.
Bogusz has played in a variety of roles throughout his time in the MLS, on the right wing, as an attacking midfielder, as a centre-forward, and as a central midfielder, but it is the number nine position where Celtic could get the best out of him.
As aforementioned, Rodgers’ current strikers have struggled in front of goal this season and the LAFC star’s form in the MLS in 2024 suggests that he has the potential to come in as an upgrade on Kyogo as a finisher.

As you can see in the table above, Bogusz was a lethal finisher in the MLS last year, only missing five ‘big chances’ in 36 matches on his way to 16 goals.
His 16 strikes came from an xG of just 9.20. Meanwhile, Kyogo has scored eight times from 11.46 xG in the Premiership this season, which illustrates the gulf in finishing quality between the two.
Bogusz, who was once described as a “dangerous” player by journalist Greg Beacham, also created nine ‘big chances’ for his teammates in the MLS, which suggests that he could do more to bring others into the game than the Japanese forward is currently doing.

The Mumbai team haven’t had lengthy meetings. There have been no long messages or speeches either. Players have been left to prepare the way they want to and figure out what works best for them and what doesn’t. This doesn’t mean the players have been left to fend for themselves. It’s just a way to make players more responsible for their own actions.Amol Muzumdar, the man guiding them, has seen it all during a two-decade-long first-class career. Even as a player, he invariably played the role of a mentor towards the end of his career, especially once he left Mumbai to play for Assam and Andhra. He has also been involved with Netherlands, South Africa and in the IPL with Rajasthan Royals. Much of his coaching philosophy is born from his varied experiences in cricket.Muzumdar is clear this is not about him. He has won the Ranji Trophy as a captain and has been part of several title-winning teams. His opposite number, Chandrakant Pandit, has had a tremendous track record as coach, plotting title wins with Mumbai and Vidarbha in the past. Now, he is looking to shepherd Madhya Pradesh to their first title.Muzumdar and Pandit are old friends and team-mates. The mutual respect is evident, but the competitive streak hasn’t been lost. Muzumdar is mindful of not wanting to make this Mumbai vs Pandit or Muzumdar vs Pandit, as tempting as it may be to hype up the match along those lines.”It’s all about the players,” he stated firmly on the eve of the match. “Of course, every team has its own engine room, but at the same time the main focus has to be the players. He [Pandit] is a proven customer. This is my first season [as coach]; his must be the umpteenth season. I wouldn’t like to compare. He has been there, done that.”Muzumdar spelt out his priorities clearly the day he was appointed head coach in June 2021. “Getting back on track in red-ball cricket” was written in bold. Through the course of a Covid-shortened season, the focus was on building a core group of young players who could serve Mumbai cricket for many years to come. “When I took up this job, all the entire association asked about was getting back in red-ball cricket,” he said. “That was our main focus. Coming so far, we’ve slightly tried to achieve that. Credit to the boys, they’re on track. Red-ball cricket was a concern for everyone from Mumbai. Looking at the last five-six years, even you guys [journalists] must have thought so.”But the guys have done splendidly well. The focus was on how to get gen-next hooked on to deliver in Ranji Trophy. With this kind of performance, we’re pushing towards it. I am certain these guys would serve Mumbai for a long time.”Yashasvi Jaiswal has only featured in three first-class games but has already racked up three hundreds. Prithvi Shaw’s talent has never been in question; he remains the “leader of the pack” even if his temperament for long-form cricket and technical adjustments remain focus areas.Suved Parkar missed out on a chance to represent India at the Under-19 World Cup two years ago but comes into the final with a reputation of being a marathon batter, much like Muzumdar. Then there’s Armaan Jaffer, a prolific age-group run-getter who has finally brought all that promise to the first-class level with a maiden century in the semi-finals.Sarfaraz Khan’s form has been pandemic-proof; he leads this shortened season’s run-charts by a mile with 803 runs in seven innings, including three hundreds. He is 297 runs ahead of Rajat Patidar, his nearest competitor in the final. This hunger for big runs in the dressing room augurs well for the future. Muzumdar underlines the culture and “processes” – that boring cliche – for helping bring about a change in mindset that first-class cricket is as important as the IPL.”I personally believe it is about the process and culture you have in the dressing room and automatically players will buy into that,” he said. “We’ve tried to do that, almost all of the [players] have bought into the future. Yes, IPL is a culture where people go in and play but they shouldn’t forget their roots, which is domestic cricket.”

Jorge Jesus voltou a um estádio de futebol brasileiro neste domingo. De férias no país, o ex-técnico do Flamengo foi ao Nilton Santos acompanhar a partida entre Botafogo e Juventude, pela quarta rodada do Brasileirão.
Mister é amigo do compatriota Luís Castro, técnico do Botafogo. Os dois jantaram juntos nesta semana. Jorge Jesus está de férias no Brasil desde a última quinta-feira e também esteve presente na Marquês de Sapucaí para assistir ao desfile das campeãs do carnaval carioca.

Jesus está sem clube desde o fim de 2021, quando deixou o Benfica nos últimos dias de dezembro. De lá para cá, o treinador recebeu sondagens de diversos clubes, incluindo equipes do futebol brasileiro, como Atlético-MG e Corinthians. O Mister, por sua vez, recusou as propostas e só deverá voltar a trabalhar a partir do meio do ano.
O português confirmou que teve um encontro com o presidente do Fenerbahçe, da Turquia, recentemente, mas não admitiu acerto. Segundo a imprensa turca, as partes negociam um acordo, e o treinador teria pedido um salário de 10 milhões de euros por temporada (R$ 53 mi) somando sua comissão, além de um vínculo de três anos.
– Não falo sobre clubes. É verdade (reunião com Ali Koç, presidente do Fenerbahçe), mas não falo de clubes. Vou estudar várias propostas. Tenho tempo para pensar nisso – disse Jorge Jesus na chegada ao Brasil.

Australia Test opener Usman Khawaja has signed a four-year deal with Brisbane Heat and will captain his new club in the upcoming season when available after departing Sydney Thunder for family reasons.Khawaja lives in Brisbane with his family and is Queensland’s Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup captain but had remained with Thunder in the BBL up until now. The length of the contract means he will stay with Heat until he is at least 39.Khawaja’s move to Heat had long been touted after he announced he was departing Thunder in February. Khawaja noted at the time it was “the toughest call” he had made as a cricketer having been a foundation member of Sydney Thunder since the BBL started in 2011-12. He was a key figure in Thunder’s lone title in 2015-16 scoring 104 not out in the semi-final against Adelaide Strikers and 70 off 40 in the winning final against Melbourne Stars.
