In a clash close to the top of the table, Balochistan avenged their crushing defeat against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last week by inflicting a similar loss on Mohammad Rizwan’s side. Awais Zia’s unbeaten 49-ball 92 helped Balochistan make short work of the 155-run target, which they achieved with six wickets and 20 balls to spare. After Shaheen Afridi removed Abdul Bangalzai for a first-ball duck and Bismillah Khan in his second over, Zia took charge of the chase single-handedly. Brushing aside the further losses of Imran Butt and his skipper Haris Sohail, Zia farmed the strike with Akbar-ur-Rehman at the other end, who played his part, finishing unbeaten on 24 and hitting the winning runs.After winning the toss, Balochistan had put KP in and removed both in-form players Mohammad Hafeez and Rizwan cheaply. Fakhar Zaman struggled to get going in the face of tight bowling, particularly by Akif Javed and Khurram Shehzad, whose combined figures of 8-0-40-3 a tell-tale sign of KP’s struggles with the bat. It was left to veteran Shoaib Malik to take them to a competitive total, as he rolled back the years to wallop 74 off 44 balls to help his side get past 150. In the evening game, it was a case of copy and paste for Babar Azam, who followed up yesterday’s 52-ball 86 not out with a 53-ball 86, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Central Punjab from slumping to a three-wicket defeat at Sindh’s hands. But when it looked like the asking rate might prove too steep, it was a blitz from Hassan Khan, who smashed 36 off 15 with four sixes, that powered Sindh past the finish line. That was despite the best efforts of Waqas Maqsood, whose figures of 3.1-0-14-3 might easily have been worthy of ending up on the winning side.After being asked to bat, Central Punjab were immediately set back by Sohail Khan removing Kamran Akmal in the first over. The Sindh fast bowler was the pick of the bunch, returning to get rid of Azam in the 15th over, as well as Saad Nasim to finish his spell. For Central Punjab, there were few contributors besides Azam, who was responsible for more than half of his side’s runs. Sindh’s team effort in the chase suggested that might have been an important point of difference.

Spurs were only meant to have Werner from January to the end of 2023/2024, but chairman Daniel Levy re-negotiated with Leipzig to keep the German for the whole of 2024/2025. Tottenhan can now also choose to do a permanent deal next summer for just £8.5 million, coming as an astute piece of business.

However, it is believed that Postecoglou's side are not done there when it comes to signing attacking players. Reports claim Tottenham are targeting a new striker and long-term replacement for Harry Kane, and could also bring in another attacking midfielder.

Levy and co will be targeting more bargain options in this window as part of their summer overhaul, as it is claimed that Postecoglou also wishes to bolster his midfield and defence over the coming weeks.

Tottenham have reportedly considered re-signing Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon as one option, as their 35% clause means they could do a deal for as little as £11 million, according to some reports out of Portugal.

Another option for Spurs could be Poland international winger Sebastian Szymanski. The Fenerbahce star, who represented his country at Euro 2024, is fresh off the back of an incredible season in the Turkish Super Lig.

He racked up an impressive 13 goals and 19 assists in all competitions for Fenerbahce last season, and there are suggestions he could leave for as little as £25 million.

According to Aslinda this week, Spurs have actually made a low-ball offer for the player, coming in at around £15 million. It was apparently rejected out of hand, but Postecoglou's side are set to try again with another proposal. While club-to-club talks go on, Tottenham are at least said to have the green light on personal terms.

Aslinda also state that Szymanski has agreed Tottenham personal terms over a four-year contract, and will fly for his medical at Hotspur Way if Fenerbahce and Spurs can find an agreement on price. It's added that Postecoglou personally wants the 25-year-old at his club for next season.

"He is a very productive player when viewed from the perspective of the inside right, number 8.5," said football scout Berat Kunt on his performance against France at the Euros.

"He has high pressing power, is close to scoring, and is effective in playing without the ball. When he increases his responsibility in the game setup, he reaches another level."

Wolverhampton Wanderers have three players representing them at Euro 2024 who will all be hoping to perform to as high of a level as what they managed to hit in the 2023/24 season with their club side. Gary O’Neil’s side finished 14th in the Premier League last campaign, an impressive placement in his first season in charge.

The trio of his players at the Euros are representatives of Portugal; namely, they are Jose Sa, Pedro Neto and Nelson Semedo. Only two of those three have featured so far, with Jose Sa yet to make an appearance. It seems unlikely the goalkeeper will displace Diogo Costa from the starting lineup after his penalty heroics, barring injury.

Neto has featured in three out of Portugal’s four games so far, missing the round of 16 win over Slovenia. He started their final group game against Georgia, playing 75 minutes, and had 45 minutes off the bench in the second game. Semedo has yet to start but has played in all of his country’s games so far.

However, come the end of summer, the Midlands side may well be able to boast a fourth player in their squad who played at Euro 2024, following links to one of the tournament’s breakout stars.

Wolves target Euros sensation

The player in question here is Fenerbache and Turkey left-back Ferdi Kadioglu. The 24-year-old has impressed as his country reached the quarter-finals in Germany, where they will face the Netherlands, and he is now linked with a move away from the club this summer.

According to a report from Turkish news outlet Milat Gazetesi, Wolves are one club who are interested in signing the exciting left-back over the summer transfer window. The article explains that Wolves are one of the sides who are 'closely following' Kadioglu, and could look to sign him this summer.

However, they will face major competition from elsewhere in the Premier League and the rest of Europe. The report states that London trio Arsenal, Fulham and West Ham are interested in signing the left-back, with competition coming from Germany in the form of Borussia Dortmund, Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen, and Spain with Atletico Madrid and Valencia also interested.

In terms of a price, Fenerbache will not accept any offers below £35m, after previously asking Dortmund for such a fee previously. The German giants bid £25m, but that was an offer turned down by the Turkish club.

Why Kadioglu would be a good signing

There is no doubt that Kadioglu has been a standout player in Turkey’s impressive Euro 2024 run so far. He has played 90 minutes in each of their four games, playing as a flying left-wing back who has impressed defensively and in the final third.

Against Austria in his side’s round of 16 victory, he was given a 7/10 for his performance by GIVEMESPORT. He was given plenty of praise, with one analyst – Ben Mattinson – hailing him as a "total footballer" for his display against Ralf Rangnick's team.

Should Wolves sign Kadioglu, he could be the ideal replacement for Rayan Ait-Nouri, who seems set to leave Wolves this summer. According to reports, Liverpool are thought to be keen admirers of the left-back.

In terms of pure goals and assists numbers, Kadioglu scored three times and registered five assists in 51 games, respectable numbers from left-back. Ait-Nouri played fewer games, just 38, and only scored one goal and registered two assists.

The Turkey international also puts up better creative numbers as per FBref, averaging 8.83 progressive passes per 90 minutes which ranks him in the top 1% of positional peers in leagues similar to the Turkish top-flight. He also averages 1.38 key passes, which ranks him in the top 17%. In contrast, as per Fbref, Ait-Nouri averages just 3.83 progressive passes and 0.97 key passes.

The Fenerbahce defender is also a wonderful ball-carrier, as he has shown in Euro 2024. Kadioglu averages 5.19 progressive carries and 3.98 carries into the final third, both of which place him in the top 1%. In contrast, the Algerian averages just 2.59 progressive carries and 1.85 carries into the final third per 90.

Both players are of a very similar profile; that is to say, fast, flying wingbacks who are able to contribute in the final third whilst also being excellent defensively. Kadiolgu’s 7.44 ball recoveries are slightly better than the 5.26 ball recoveries per 90 of Ait-Nouri.

It certainly seems like a deal Wolves should pursue if they sell their star man. They would be able to add a like-for-like replacement to their squad, whilst keeping a profile that O’Neil would be able to effectively utilise in his system. For a fee of around £35m, it could be a superb investment for Wolves.

A fase do Barcelona é totalmente diferente daquele time que encarou o Fluminense no jogo de ida das quartas de final da Libertadores. Antes de enfrentar o Tricolor, os equatorianos vinham com uma sequência positiva de cinco vitórias e nenhuma derrota. No período, foram 12 gols marcados e apenas três sofridos.

Depois disso, o time não conseguiu manter o mesmo nível, e os resultados apresentaram uma queda significativa. Nos compromissos seguintes, contando a partida de ida contra o Tricolor, foram três derrotas, dois empates e apenas uma vitória. No total, marcou seis gols e sofreu nove.

CAMPEONATO NACIONAL

O desempenho inconsistente refletiu na tabela de classificação do Campeonato Equatoriano. Na primeira etapa, o Barcelona terminou na segunda posição, com 31 pontos – apenas três a menos do que o Emelec. No total, foram nove vitórias, quatro empates e apenas duas derrotas.

Por outro lado, na segunda etapa, o Barcelona não manteve a mesma pegada e está na sétima colocação, com 12 pontos conquistados. A equipe soma, até aqui, quatro vitórias, nenhum empate e três derrotas.

CAMPANHA NA LIBERTADORES

O Barcelona se classificou para a fase mata-mata da Libertadores no primeiro lugar do Grupo C, que contava com Santos e Boca Juniors. A equipe equatoriana somou 13 e perdeu apenas um jogo, para o The Strongest, da Bolívia, em La Paz, noEstádio Hernando Siles.

O desempenho, inclusive, foi melhor que o do Flamengo, que fechou a fase de grupos com 12 pontos. Dessa forma, o jogo da volta acontecerá no Equador, na quarta-feira da próxima semana, também às 21h30.

Nas oitavas de final, o Barcelona encarou oVélez Sársfield, da Argentina. Depois de perder o jogo da ida por 1 a 0, em Buenos Aires, o time Guayaquil venceu o confronto da volta por 3 a 1 e avançou na Libertadores.

Com o resultado, a equipe equatoriana garantiu vaga nas quartas de final para enfrentar o Fluminense. No jogo de ida, o Barcelona saiu atrás no placar, mas, mesmo com um jogador a menos, conseguiu a virada. No entanto, aos 50 minutos da etapa final, Fred deixou tudo igual.

Dessa forma, com um empate por 2 a 2 no Maracanã, o Barcelona poderia empatar por 0 a 0 ou por 1 a 1 que se classificaria no jogo da volta. Em campo, o time da casa abriu o placar comGonzalo Mastriani, e, apenas no último lance, o Fluminense conseguiu o gol. Assim, com 1 a 1 no placar, o Barcelona de Guayaquil garantiu vaga na semifinal.

HISTÓRICO E NÚMEROS

O retrospecto no confronto é favorável ao time carioca.Segundo o site “ogol”, Flamengo e Barcelona de Guayaquil se enfrentaram apenas duas vezes na história da Libertadores. E nestes dois jogos, que aconteceram no ano passado, o Rubro-Negro levou a melhor: no Brasil, vitória por 3 a 0 e, no Equador, vitória por 2 a 1.

Nesta edição da Libertadores, o Barcelona de Guayaquil marcou 16 gols e sofreu oito nas dez partidas que disputou. No total, foram cinco vitórias, três empates e duas derrotas.

Já o Flamengo, também em dez partidas, marcou 28 gols e sofreu 12. Além disso, o Rubro-Negro Carioca soma sete vitórias, três empates e nenhuma derrota nesta Libertadores.

Para o jogo desta quarta-feira, o torcedor do Flamengo precisa ficar de olho em Carlos Gárces, que é o jogador do Barcelona com a maior participações em gols da equipe na Libertadores. Com três marcados (melhor marca do time na competição) e duas assistências, o atacante foi responsável direto por mais de 31% dos gols do time na Libertadores 2021.

Outro nome para ficar de olho é Gabriel Cortez, que teve passagem pelo Botafogo em 2020. Segundo dados do site “SofaScore”, em média, ele participa de um gol a cada 70 minutos, o que é a terceira melhor marca da Libertadores deste ano.

Signing a five-year deal with the Hammers, Guilherme spoke highly of the club in his frist appearance as a West Ham player telling the club website:

"The Premier League is the best league in the world. I believe I’ll improve a lot here with the entire staff at West Ham, which is crucial for my development."

In their pursuit of new forward players, West Ham have had their eyes on a couple of strikers with proven Premier League experience. A report from last week claimed that the Hammers are eyeing up a move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin whilst the East London side have been linked with a move for Brentford's Ivan Toney since well before the window opened.

With Guilherme clearly just the first of many attacking recruits this summer, it appears that West Ham have now opened talks for another player currently playing in the Premier League.

As first reported by Football Insider's Wayne Veysey, West Ham have opened preliminary talks over a deal to sign Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson this summer. The outlet states that the 24-year-old is set to depart the Emirates during the transfer window after being at the North London outfit since age nine.

With the Gunners expected to cash in on the winger, West Ham have clearly wasted no time getting around the table to discuss a deal for the player. Nelson's current contract is set to keep him at Arsenal until 2027, however the lack of first team opportunities could see the curtain fall on his time at the club.

Nelson has long struggled to establish himself in the Gunners' starting eleven, with the rise of Bukayo Saka severely limiting the 24-year-old's opportunities to get on the pitch in recent seasons. Despite this, Nelson has always been held in high regard by his teammates with former Arsenal captain Alexander Lacazette calling him a "big talent" back in 2020.

Nelson made his debut for Arsenal back in 2017 at just 17 years of age. The then teenager quickly stood out as one of England's best young talents with former Arsenal star Martin Keown even comparing Nelson to Brazil superstar Neymar after a Europa League game against BATE Borisov when Nelson was a teenager.

Regardless of his recent struggles, Nelson is still a player that could bring a lot to West Ham next season. With years of Premier League experience under his belt and still the potential to improve, the 24-year-old looks like a risk that could be worth taking this summer.
